With an expanded format, this special full-day event will offer insights into the origins and future of Estonia’s unique e-State and digital society with high-level speakers joining from both Estonia and New York, including the Deputy Secretary-General of the Estonian Ministry of Economics and the New York City CTO, along with the country’s leading technology companies who helped build the digital infrastructure that has now been opened to the whole world through the innovative Estonian e-Residency platform.
If you're an investor, you'll be personally introduced some of the hottest startups rising from the same ecosystem that birthed Skype, Transferwise, Pipedrive, Starship, AdCash, Playtech, and more.
And if you're a member of the NY Tech Community, join us too! You'll learn about one of the most dynamic, startup-friendly ecosystems in Europe and the world's first digital-nation where you can apply for e-Residency and operate your entire business remotely, while enjoying full, unfettered access to the EU market; or apply for one of Europe’s most robust Startup Visa’s and build your company hands-on in one of the most connected hubs in the world.
This is a not-to-be-missed event where you’ll get to meet governmental, startup and business leaders from the tiny Nordic nation that is successfully growing more unicorns per capita than anywhere else in the world!
Date: April 1st, 2020 @ 9:00am - 5:15 pm (doors open @ 8:30am)
Latitude40 is the kick-off event to the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the New York Estonian Cultural Days.
Following the day’s program, all guests and participants are invited to join us at
Scandinavian House for the New York City premiere of Chasing Unicorns:
A semi-satirical tale based on real-life Estonian startups, Chasing Unicorns follows Õie, a young book-keeper from a small town, who stumbles onto the tech scene in her native Estonia, a country where making startups is a “national sport.” Joined by Tõnu — a serial failure whose companies have each gone bankrupt — and using Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and Mark Zuckerberg as her inspirations, she sets out on a journey to take on the male-dominated tech world and go after the dream of founding a unicorn startup.
Based on the experiences of more than 30 Estonian entrepreneurs whose real-life stories overlap with Õie’s fictional journey, Chasing Unicorns is directed by Rain Rannu, a former entrepreneur (founder, Fortumo).
